Stetser Elizabeth Cornwell Stetser, 102, of Wiscasset, died Saturday, December 22, at a Brunswick Hospital. She was the eldest daughter of Eppa Luther and Portia Smith Cornwell of Manassas, Virginia. Mrs. Stetser (Betty) was an active member of the Girl Scouts of America, in Delaware County and Tully Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sharon Hill, Penn., for more than 50 years. She spent many hours working with the Gettysburg Women's League and other community organizations. In 1996 she moved to Alna. She was active in the Wiscasset Senior Center, Wiscasset First Congregational Church and the Organ Society. In the past, she has been active in Grange, Lincoln Club and until the last few years, worked with the Miles Memorial Rummage Sale. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Elizabeth Stetser of Alna; one grandson, Keith Andrew Haaf and his wife Christina; two great-grandsons, Derek Andrew Haaf and Davis Alexander Haaf, all of Batavia, Illinois. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at First Congregational Church of Wiscasset with Rev. John Potter officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Maine Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 553, Portland, ME 04112; the American Heart Association, 51 US Route 1, Suite M. Scarborough, ME 04074; or the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset, P.O. Box 350, Wiscasset, ME 04578. Arrangements are by Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal Street in Wiscasset.
